Executive members meant with the Chief Forester to discuss timber requirements for a community forest. We restated our position that the area envisioned for the community forest was one where current licensees did not wish to harvest timber due to the number of community watersheds, quality of timber and high value placed upon the area by residents and businesses. Our research shows their is surplus timber available which has not been harvested for several years and the community should be awarded such. We asked the Chief Forester to speak with the Minister about creating a community forest when she addresses the new AAC with him.
