Dr. Aastha Kalra specializes in obesity medicine and metabolic health. She is the physician founder of Weight Zero MD, a telemedicine clinic focusing on “diabetes reversal.” She is board certified in internal medicine. Dr. Kalra completed her residency in internal medicine at Hofstra University- NorthShore LIJ Health System and thereafter served as chief resident in internal medicine for a year.
Dr. Kalra’s skills extend beyond traditional medicine, as she has a special interest and expertise in educating and treating patients with weight issues and root causes. She is committed to helping patients address their specific medical problems and specializes in medically supervised weight loss. Her quality of care is uncompromising and is equaled only by her compassionate demeanor and bedside manner.
Dr. Kalra supports studies that implicate sugar as the number one culprit driving the obesity epidemic, type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Her program is designed specifically for each patient and is based on diet that is low in carbohydrates with medium levels of protein and healthy fat. Low carb diets are scientifically proven to work effectively at burning fat and reversing many symptoms relating to the metabolic syndrome including Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, hypertension and obesity and other chronic illnesses.
Dr. Kalra is a member of American Board of Preventative Medicine, the Obesity Society, American Board of Obesity Medicine, American Medical Association. She is also an active member of SoPE (Society of Physician Entrepreneurs). She is an attending physician at the US Department of Veteran Affairs.
